Job Summary

The Route Checker is tasked with confirming the accuracy of customer orders before they leave the warehouse by thoroughly examining and verifying completed orders. They record and resolve any discrepancies before the products are loaded for delivery. Additionally, the Checker inspects all route delivery trucks upon their return, identifies and documents any issues, and ensures corrections are made before finalizing the truck check-in process.

Key Responsibilities

• Verify the precision of customer orders by examining constructed pallets to ensure proper assembly, stability, and security for transit and cross-check pick tickets for correct product types and quantities. Communicate with warehouse staff to amend any discovered errors.
• Inspect the condition of returning route delivery trucks and perform blind counts of items on these trucks, matching these counts with reported quantities. Communicate discrepancies with delivery drivers and make necessary adjustments before completing the check-in process.
• Document discrepancies such as miss-picks, pallet types, additional pallets, or out-of-stock items on appropriate reports and relay this information to relevant personnel.
• Keep accurate account of all returned products and deposit items on delivery trucks, categorizing them properly, including out-of-date, damaged, good condition items, and pallets.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety in the work area and warehouse; assist with pallet building or other tasks as requested by management.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong attention to detail and ability to differentiate packages.
• Basic mathematics proficiency (addition, subtraction, multiplication).
• Capability to perform physical tasks including walking extensively and lifting weights up to 75 lbs repeatedly.
• Comfort working in a noisy and non-temperature-controlled warehouse environment subject to seasonal temperature extremes.
• Team collaboration skills and ability to organize dependable warehouse processes effectively.
• Flexibility to adapt to varying schedule demands and changing work areas.
• Ability to read and interpret computer screen instructions.
• Self-motivated with proactive initiative to identify value-adding opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum: High school diploma or GED.
• Up to 12 months work experience preferred.

Preferred Certifications

• Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) certification.
• Pallet Jack certification.

Working Conditions

The role requires working within environments that are noisy and not temperature-controlled, with variable seasonal conditions.
