Research Assistant (Fixed Term)

Role Overview

The University of Cambridge invites applications for a dedicated Research Assistant to contribute to a cutting-edge project investigating heterochromatin erosion in Parkinson's Disease (PD). This fixed-term position, initially funded for three years, will support studies led by Professor Roger Barker and Dr Annelies Quaegebeur, within the global Aligning Science Across Parkinson's (ASAP) network.

Research Objectives

The project aims to combine high-resolution multi-omics analysis of post-mortem brain tissues with functional experimentation using cellular models. The goal is to confirm heterochromatin erosion as a critical factor influencing regional PD pathology, clinical variability, and disease progression. Insights from this research could pave the way for developing new epigenetic-based therapeutic interventions for Parkinson's Disease.

Additional Opportunities

Successful candidates may have the option to pursue a PhD program concurrently while employed as staff at the University of Cambridge.

Collaboration and Support

The role involves supporting ongoing research efforts within the group and collaborating across multiple institutions and disciplines connected to the ASAP network.
