Role Overview

The Research Assistant will support the development and upkeep of high-quality primary evidence and analyses, focusing on safety interventions and employing quasi-experimental and trial methodologies. This part-time position (0.5 Full-Time Equivalent) based in London allows you to contribute directly to research that supports safer practices worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the design, execution, and evaluation of both internal and external research projects.
• Ensure comprehensive and accurate documentation, maintaining data security and integrity across involved projects.
• Participate in quality assurance processes for all research and trial activities.
• Provide flexible support to the Research and Trial Manager and other team members on varied research and trial tasks.
• Help develop and deliver training for building capacity in research methodologies and knowledge translation.
• Support the creation, application, and periodic review of the Global Safety Evidence Centre's research standards to incorporate new insights and advancements.

Qualifications and Experience

• A Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as engineering, public health, psychology, or science, including research methods training.
• Hands-on experience conducting research projects.
• Advanced understanding of research methodologies including qualitative and quantitative designs.
• Strong skills in data manipulation with knowledge of data structure, characteristics, and appropriate software tools.
• Excellent analytical and critical thinking capabilities with keen attention to detail, particularly in reviewing technical and scientific materials.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills for professional interaction with stakeholders.
• Ability to identify potential project risks or issues early and communicate them effectively.
• Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively, seeking guidance as necessary.
• Experience working on intervention studies and program evaluations.
• Background in evidence generation teams, evidence centres, or similar policy-oriented research environments.
• Knowledge of occupational safety and health, engineering, and related decision-making processes across sectors is preferred.
• Eligibility to work in the UK is mandatory.
