Job description

Position Overview

The Quality Assurance Inspector I is responsible for evaluating and documenting the quality of incoming, in-process, and finished production parts. This includes inspecting firearms produced both internally and by external suppliers, ensuring that all products adhere to precise engineering drawings and company requirements. Flexibility to assist across the Quality department as needed is expected.

Key Responsibilities

  • Examine and record findings from incoming, in-process, and final product inspections.
  • Identify and meticulously document any issues or errors encountered with inspected components.
  • Maintain thorough records of all inspection activity.
  • Generate and submit quality reports to the Quality Manager.
  • Utilize standard inspection and measurement tools including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM equipment, Keyence, Rockwell testers, and surface plates.
  • Remain consistently focused on assigned tasks and adhere to regulatory, company, and safety-related policies at all times.
  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as instructed by the company.
  • Keep the work area organized and clean.
  • Complete all paperwork promptly and accurately.
  • Report maintenance or safety concerns immediately to the supervisor.
  • Maintain professional, courteous, and positive interactions with colleagues and the organization.
  • Accommodate other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications & Knowledge

  • Strong competency with measurement tools such as height stands, calipers, micrometers, and optical comparators.
  • Familiarity with quality inspection approaches and techniques.
  • Experience using the Keyence IM system (preferred).
  • Solid grasp of geometric dimensioning, tolerancing, and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Demonstrate good mechanical aptitude and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to perform comprehensive dimensional layout inspections.
  • Experience with ERP systems is desirable.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Capable of taking direction and managing priorities efficiently.

Working Conditions

The role operates primarily within a heated manufacturing and warehouse environment. Exposure to harsh temperatures, poor ventilation, or potentially hazardous substances is minimal. The typical noise environment includes manufacturing and normal office sounds.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to use small hand tools regularly.
  • Required to lift up to 50 pounds, with assistance available as needed.
  • Frequent and repetitive movements such as lifting, pushing, and pulling.
  • Continuous standing and walking during shifts.
  • Occasional bending, kneeling, stooping, or crouching is necessary.
