Role Overview
The Proposal Writing Specialist will craft high-caliber project proposals and concept notes that correspond with WARO’s strategic goals and donor specifications. This full-time position is based onsite in Somalia. Responsibilities include identifying funding prospects, collaborating with program teams for technical contributions, and producing persuasive narratives, logical frameworks, and budgets. The specialist will verify adherence to donor instructions, manage proposal schedules including internal assessments and final submissions, maintain a proposal archive, monitor outcomes, and support fundraising reports and related materials.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Expertise in proposal and grant writing, capable of developing clear project narratives, objectives, and results frameworks.
- Experience in project planning and development, encompassing needs assessments, stakeholder engagement, and logical framework or theory of change formulation.
- Familiarity with humanitarian and development programs in Somalia or analogous settings, particularly health, education, WASH, and livelihoods sectors.
- Skill in interpreting and applying donor regulations (including UN agencies, international NGOs, and bilateral or multilateral donors) to ensure full proposal compliance.
- Proficient written and verbal communication in English; Somali language skills are advantageous.
- Strong research, analytical, and critical thinking capabilities with meticulous attention to detail and precision in documentation and budget preparation.
- Ability to cooperate with multidisciplinary teams, coordinate inputs under tight deadlines, and handle multiple proposals simultaneously.
- A relevant bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, International Relations, Social Sciences, Public Administration, or related disciplines; advanced degrees preferred.
- Prior experience in a similar NGO or humanitarian role with a successful history of funded proposals.
- Proficiency with standard office software and collaboration platforms including word processors, spreadsheets, presentation tools, and online communication applications.
