About the Role
We seek an experienced Project Leader – Debt Collection to manage our client's delinquent accounts portfolio in Kingston, Jamaica. This role is hands-on and demands an individual capable of holding debtors accountable while nurturing professional relationships. Candidates should be adept in interpreting ageing reports, devising realistic repayment plans, and locating debtors who have ceased communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee delinquent accounts by monitoring and analyzing ageing balances to minimize days outstanding.
- Reach out to debtors via phone, mail, email, or personal visits to facilitate repayment and understand reasons behind delays.
- Generate account statements and negotiate practical, structured repayment agreements.
- Locate and trace debtors who have relocated or changed their contact information.
- Maintain detailed records of communications and payment ledgers with debtors.
- Execute the dunning process upon management consent and collaborate with legal teams concerning uncollectible debts.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Commerce, or related disciplines.
- Knowledge of local debt collection laws is advantageous.
- Competency in accounting software, customer relationship management databases, and Microsoft Office suite.
- Possession of a reliable motor vehicle for field visits.
Skills and Personal Qualities
- Strong negotiation and persuasion capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills, especially under pressure.
- The ability to remain patient and composed during challenging conversations.
