About the Role

Join the Northern Land Council as a Project Coordinator and play an essential role in promoting sustainable land use initiatives that benefit Aboriginal communities throughout the Northern Territory. This full-time, ongoing position is based in Katherine or Darwin and involves coordinating land use projects that align with the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976. You will collaborate with Traditional Owners, Aboriginal groups, government bodies, and industries to manage project lifecycles from assessment to consultation and agreement implementation.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage Expressions of Interest and various land use projects across Aboriginal lands.
• Work closely with Legal, Anthropology, GIS, and Regional teams to advance project assessments and outcomes.
• Lead consultations and negotiations among Traditional Owners, Aboriginal community members, and external proponents.
• Organize logistics including meetings, travel, accommodations, and event coordination for project delivery.
• Oversee project budgets, manage cost recovery activities, and maintain accurate reporting.
• Prepare detailed reports, submissions, briefings, and other project-related documentation.
• Travel regularly to regional and remote communities to facilitate engagement and consultation efforts.

The ideal candidate is an efficient and proactive project professional who enjoys collaboration and managing multiple priorities. Strong communication skills and the ability to foster constructive stakeholder relationships are essential. A genuine commitment to supporting Aboriginal communities and Traditional Owners' interests is paramount.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field, or extensive experience in project or land management.
• Proven ability in coordinating project operations and administrative tasks effectively.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain productive stakeholder relationships.
• Experience handling budgeting, financial oversight, and cost recovery processes.
• Skilled in facilitating consultations, negotiations, and meetings.
• Strong written communication capabilities, including report writing and business document preparation.
• Possession of a valid Northern Territory Driver's License and willingness to travel to remote locations.

Compensation and Benefits

• Annual base salary of $119,571 plus 15% superannuation on Base and District Allowance.
• Salary sacrifice benefits up to $15,900 plus meal entertainment and holiday accommodation allowances totaling up to $2,650 annually.
• District allowance: up to $4,884 per year for dependents (DA2) or $2,678 without dependents (DA1).
• Annual leave entitlement of 5 weeks, 18 days personal leave, and a paid Christmas closure.
• Upon one year of service, eligibility for an annual airfare valued at $3,177 (net).
