Product Manager

About the Role

Sunlane Cleantech is focused on creating a digital infrastructure for residential solar and energy management, simplifying the transition to clean energy with user-friendly and reliable products. The Product Manager role is based onsite in Kochi and involves leading product development across both client-facing mobile applications for solar customers and internal tools supporting operations, sales, and service teams. This is not merely a specification-writing position; it demands hands-on involvement from end-to-end feature ownership to delivery and quality assurance.

Key Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of features and workflows from problem identification through to deployment and testing.
• Engage directly with customers and internal teams to identify true issues beyond dashboard metrics.
• Manage and enhance Zoho CRM and Zoho Books workflows.
• Coordinate with external development partners, ensure timely delivery, resolve blockers, and conduct exhaustive testing.
• Develop dashboards and reporting tools to monitor product performance.
• Support the training, rollout, and troubleshooting for internal tool usage across departments.
• Create clear specifications and leverage AI tools for mockups, prototypes, or drafts.
• Distinguish between features that are merely shipped and those that are genuinely usable, advocating for quality.

Required Experience and Skills

• 2 to 4 years of practical product management experience with true product ownership, preferably in startups or rapidly scaling businesses.
• Proven ability to interact with end-users and adapt product decisions based on their input beyond standard research processes.
• Skilled at prioritizing objectives in ambiguous situations and articulating tradeoffs made.
• Data-savvy with experience working with dashboards, funnels, and metrics, without necessarily needing deep technical knowledge.
• A keen sense for user experience, capable of recognizing and acting when a product is technically functional but not user-friendly.
• Strong ownership mentality: committed to driving tasks to completion, not just handover.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication; knowledge of Malayalam is advantageous but not mandatory.

Desirable Qualifications

• Some familiarity with India’s residential solar or wider cleantech sectors.
• Ability to utilize AI-assisted coding tools for prototyping, mockups, or minor fixes is a plus.

Compensation and Location

The position is full-time and based onsite in Kochi, Kerala. The monthly salary ranges from INR 30,000 to INR 50,000.
