Product Design Engineer

Role Overview

Join the Datacom and Specialty Solutions Division at Molex as a Product Design Engineer. You will oversee the entire process of new product development—from initial concept to market launch—focusing on innovative designs, quality, and enhancing manufacturing processes to meet customer needs.

Teamwork Environment

Work collaboratively within a vibrant product design team that interacts with multiple departments including Product Marketing, Project Management, Manufacturing Operations, and Quality across various time zones. Cooperation with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders is essential for success.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze customer requirements and assess design feasibility
• Evaluate competitor products and create innovative designs using CAD tools
• Lead design reviews, perform design verification, and conduct design failure mode and effects analyses to ensure product manufacturability and reliability
• Maintain design documentation, oversee patent-related processes, and liaise with legal teams for patent matters
• Support the product introduction phase through customer and manufacturing partner visits
• Provide engineering assistance for product changes, cost reductions, and process enhancements
• Engage in cost-saving initiatives and handle customer design concerns
• Contribute to departmental projects and initiatives

Candidate Profile

• Degree or diploma in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
• At least two years of experience in product design and development, ideally within connector design and manufacturing
• Strong expertise in product design engineering combined with creativity, critical analysis, and problem-solving aptitude
• Experience in managing design controls and conducting engineering analyses
• Effective communication skills and leadership capability
• Proficiency in Mandarin to interact efficiently with Mandarin-speaking clients and colleagues

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with NX CAD software
• Previous experience in manufacturing settings focusing on process improvements
• Knowledge of product reliability testing and certifications such as UL, CSA, and TUV
