Job description
Position Overview
The Parent Educator is responsible for designing, organizing, and delivering educational programs that address the intellectual, emotional, cultural, social, and physical developmental needs of children, teens, and their parents or guardians. This role promotes respectful and reciprocal relationships within families and supports positive youth development through evidence-based parenting education.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute instructional programs targeting the diverse needs of children, adolescents, and parents.
- Implement structured, research-supported parenting curricula to enhance parenting abilities and encourage positive behaviors in youth.
- Facilitate weekly parent and caregiver group sessions focused on strengthening family dynamics.
- Encourage parental involvement in activities that bolster family cohesion, youth accountability, and sound decision-making.
- Offer guidance to families concerning juvenile diversion requirements and reinforce parenting strategies conducive to favorable youth outcomes.
- Actively participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to provide expertise on parenting challenges and family relationships.
- Serve as a resource and consultant to Case Managers and Probation Officers on family support and parenting-related issues.
