Role Overview
The Operations Analyst role at spiderSilk bridges Platform Engineering and Finance, focusing on maintaining platform reliability, operational efficiency, and financial sustainability during growth phases. The incumbent will measure critical metrics such as uptime, latency, data accuracy, and cost efficiency, converting complex data into actionable insights that guide both operational performance and strategic planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Take charge of monitoring key performance indicators including system uptime, latency, data integrity, and alert precision.
- Design and sustain dashboards that illuminate platform health, incident occurrences, and potential risks.
- Assist in post-incident analyses and collaborate with engineering teams to implement strategic improvements.
- Track and evaluate infrastructure expenditure and identify cost influences across various products and systems.
- Develop integrated dashboards linking infrastructure costs to platform efficiency and business results.
- Work collaboratively with Finance and Platform Engineering to analyze spending discrepancies and uncover optimization possibilities.
- Create and uphold operational KPIs balancing system reliability, efficiency, and fiscal performance.
- Communicate clear, actionable operational insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of four years of professional experience in Operations Analytics, Financial Operations (FinOps), Infrastructure Analytics, Reliability Engineering, or related domains.
- Proven strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
- Experience in infrastructure, cloud services, SaaS, fintech, cybersecurity, or analogous high-demand sectors.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills tailored for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Highly organized, proactive, and adaptable to fast-paced, evolving work environments.
- Collaborative approach with a strong sense of ownership and inquisitiveness.
Technical Competencies
- Proficiency in SQL/MySQL for data querying and analysis.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Grafana, or Kibana.
- Familiarity with observability and monitoring technologies.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for data manipulation and reporting.
- Working knowledge of Redis, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or other NoSQL databases is advantageous.
- Exposure to Python scripting, ETL processes, or data warehousing is beneficial.
- Understanding of cloud cost optimization strategies and FinOps practices.
