Role Overview
This position is responsible for managing the processing and oversight of settlements, fund activities, and client transactions within a regulated financial services environment. The role supports the end-to-end lifecycle of transactions, necessitating a versatile and adaptable professional capable of handling various operational processes, ensuring business continuity through cross-skilling, and effectively managing fluctuating workloads and priorities.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate deep operational expertise, a focus on client-centric service, and a proactive approach to utilizing technology including automation and AI-driven tools to enhance operational efficiency, minimize risk, and maintain high data integrity.
Primary Objectives
- Ensure prompt and precise settlement of equity, fixed income, and related asset transactions.
- Support full client transaction lifecycles as well as fund operational activities with transparency and stringent controls.
- Actively address exceptions, discrepancies, and settlement risks in partnership with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Drive operational excellence through continuous process improvements, automation, and AI-enhanced workflows.
- Maintain high service levels consistent with client expectations, regulatory standards, and company policies.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Process and settle trades involving equities, bonds, and other market instruments in compliance with internal guidelines and market timelines.
- Conduct daily validation, input, monitoring, and control of executed trades across multiple platforms.
- Ensure accuracy in transaction recording and compliance with transaction reporting and regulatory obligations.
- Investigate and resolve issues such as settlement failures and mismatches, including root cause analysis.
- Manage client transactions comprehensively, including subscriptions and redemptions, coordinating with Front Office, Fund Accounting, Custodians, Brokers, and Transfer Agents to resolve issues efficiently.
- Provide operational support for fund lifecycle events including corporate actions, income events, and reconciliations.
- Ensure strict adherence to internal controls, risk management, and escalation protocols.
- Assist with audit, compliance, and regulatory processes by maintaining precise records and delivering timely responses.
- Produce regular operational and client reporting; employ data analytics, automation, and AI solutions to optimize exception handling and reporting quality.
- Participate in initiatives aimed at achieving straight-through processing, improving data quality, and enhancing operational resilience.
- Identify and implement process enhancements focusing on efficiency, automation, and quality.
- Contribute to drafting and updating procedures and best practice documentation; support team training, onboarding, and knowledge sharing.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- At least five years of experience in settlements, middle office, or operational roles within financial services.
- Comprehensive understanding of trade lifecycles, operational controls, and post-trade processes.
- Exceptional attention to detail combined with strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Proven capability to prioritize and handle high-volume workflow deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach.
- Excellent team collaboration and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel for reconciliations, analysis, and reporting.
- Self-motivated and result-oriented with a commitment to high-quality deliverables.
Desirable Skills and Attributes
- Experience in supporting fund operations or collective investment structures.
- Knowledge of equities, fixed income, and derivative products.
- Exposure to automation technologies, AI tools, or data-driven process improvements.
- Experience handling regulatory or audit functions within a controlled financial services context.
- A third-level degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
