About Selwyn Hall School
Selwyn Hall School, located in Foxton near Cambridge, is a specialist SEN institution educating 7-18-year-olds facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges (SEMH). Students often have conditions such as ASD, ADHD, FASD, anxiety, and other communication, interaction, cognition, and learning difficulties. The school emphasizes individualized attention by maintaining small groups of 4-6 pupils. Role Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated mentorship and support to either one student or small groups up to six.
- Assist classroom teachers during lessons to enhance learning.
- Monitor and report student progress and concerns, communicating with other staff to meet pupil needs.
- Supervise students during non-classroom activities, such as extracurricular events and trips.
- Aid in preparing lesson plans and classroom materials.
- Set and mark work as appropriate to support learning objectives.
- Foster positive relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and achievement.
Candidate Requirements
- Strong foundational education, at least A-level or equivalent, with minimum GCSE Grade C in English Language and Mathematics.
- Relevant experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role.
- Familiarity with supporting pupils who have SEMH within an educational setting.
- Confidence and experience taking additional responsibilities, such as food hygiene, forest school activities, supervision of lunchtimes, or school yoga.
- Understanding of behaviour management strategies and techniques.
- Eagerness to engage in professional development and continuous learning.
