About the Role

First Student is actively recruiting for the position of Monitor/Aide, dedicated to upholding the company's high standards in safety and customer service. This role involves overseeing operations, managing daily bus route activities, and supporting drivers to ensure safe transit routes. The pay rate for this position is $20.15 per hour.

Primary Duties

  • Familiarize with the route and continuously observe the well-being of passengers during transit
  • Report behavioral issues and conditions at stops to the driver
  • Support bus pre-trip and post-trip inspections
  • Assist students with boarding and disembarking the bus
  • Maintain effective communication and cooperation with school staff, students, and parents
  • Participate in all safety briefings and training sessions
  • Lead emergency evacuations, including use of the emergency exit door
  • Manage opening and closing of service doors and navigating bus steps multiple times each day
  • Perform cleaning duties inside the bus
  • Help the driver safely back up the vehicle when necessary

Required Experience and Attributes

  • Proficient judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Capability to handle high-stress situations effectively
  • Experience or ability to load, secure, and unload wheelchairs safely
