Mechanical and Electrical Engineer - Night Shift

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled and committed Mechanical and Electrical Engineer to join our team during night shifts. This role focuses on both reactive and preventative maintenance to maintain machinery at peak operational efficiency while ensuring quality standards remain uncompromised. Close collaboration with site Technicians and Line Leaders is essential to keep all equipment in optimum working condition according to company protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance throughout the facility to reduce downtime.
• Quickly and effectively address machinery breakdowns and technical issues to minimize production interruptions.
• Advise on engineering strategies and propose solutions aimed at reducing downtime and improving operational efficiency.
• Continuously identify opportunities to enhance machine performance.
• Complete all maintenance, servicing, and duties, escalating concerns to the Engineering Lead or Supervisor as necessary.
• Collaborate with Engineering Supervisors to optimize equipment and tooling purchases while ensuring task completion.
• Coordinate with Engineering Supervisors, Manager, Line Leaders, machinery suppliers, and manufacturers to maximize equipment effectiveness.
• Supervise external contractors to ensure adherence to company policies and safe work practices during onsite activities.
• Maintain accurate and thorough engineering documentation to support compliance and audits.
• Manage parts inventory in the site engineering stores, including booking out and restocking items when required.
• Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of all work areas at shift end.

Qualifications and Desired Attributes

• Qualified engineer with credentials in mechanical and electrical engineering.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
• Proactive, positive attitude with strong problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Effective communication skills across all organizational levels.
• Desirable: prior experience in the food manufacturing sector.
• Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and flexible; adaptable to changes in work environment.
