Position Overview
We are seeking a Materials Engineer to contribute to major construction projects by ensuring all materials comply with specifications and approvals, facilitating timely coordination for effective project execution.
Primary Duties
- Assess and manage material submittals according to project requirements and contract terms.
- Verify alignment of materials with IFC drawings, specifications, and approved standards.
- Collaborate with consultants and project management consultants (PMC) to secure material approvals and resolve technical comments.
- Track and update material submittal records and monitoring systems.
- Coordinate with procurement and site teams to guarantee on-time delivery and compliance of materials.
- Review technical data sheets, test certificates, reports, and samples prior to submission.
- Supervise the use of approved materials on site to ensure correct application.
- Assist in troubleshooting material-related technical challenges and managing non-conformance reports (NCRs).
- Ensure all materials adhere to relevant local authority regulations, including those from ADCD and other regional bodies.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering or a closely related field.
- Between 5 and 10 years of pertinent experience in construction or material engineering roles.
- Comprehensive knowledge of material submittals, quality assurance/quality control processes, and project specifications.
- Proven ability to manage consultant and PMC approvals and coordination efforts.
- Experience with digital platforms such as Asite, ACC, or equivalents.
- Exceptional communication and coordination capabilities.
Additional Skills and Knowledge
- Experience working on large-scale construction projects.
- Understanding of local authority approval workflows, including ADCD and ADM.
- Capability to oversee diverse material packages covering Architectural, Civil, and MEP disciplines.
