Job Purpose
The OT Cybersecurity Specialist will be responsible for managing and enhancing the security posture of Operational Technology (OT) environments. This involves protecting industrial control and SCADA systems against cyber threats, performing vulnerability assessments, continuous monitoring, and incident response coordination. The role requires working closely with IT and OT teams to ensure comprehensive security integration without compromising operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor OT systems, including ICS and industrial devices, for vulnerabilities and security threats.
- Support investigation and mitigation of OT cybersecurity incidents ensuring swift containment and remediation.
- Develop and execute incident response plans tailored to OT environments.
- Perform periodic vulnerability scans and penetration tests on OT assets to identify and remediate security gaps.
- Collaborate with OT and IT teams to apply patches, updates, and security configurations.
- Deploy and maintain security controls such as firewalls, IDS, and access restrictions within OT networks.
- Ensure secure network segmentation and remote access mechanisms specific to OT infrastructures.
- Work with IT security units to align OT security with enterprise-wide policies and frameworks.
- Coordinate with operational and engineering teams to guarantee security compliance prior to OT solution deployments.
- Stay informed on emerging OT-related cyber threats and recommend enhancements to policies and tools accordingly.
- Assist in evaluating new cybersecurity technologies to elevate OT security defenses.
Collaboration and Stakeholders
The role involves close coordination with internal teams including OT operations, system administrators, facilities management, internal audit, and IT security. External collaboration includes working with auditors, managed security service providers, consultants, incident response partners, and third-party OT solution vendors.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related fields.
- Advanced qualifications such as a Master's degree or MBA in Cybersecurity or Information Assurance are highly valued.
- Certifications like GIAC GICSP, Certified SCADA Security Architect, or similar cybersecurity credentials are preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years’ professional experience, with at least 2 years in OT or industrial control system cybersecurity.
