Overview
Join Guthrie Lourdes Hospital, a 197-bed acute care facility nationally recognized for its supportive nursing environment and awards from healthcare industry leaders. As a Maintenance Technician, your work directly supports doctors, nurses, and patients by ensuring that all systems and facilities are properly maintained, repaired, and operational.
Position Summary
Under supervision, you will handle various maintenance and engineering tasks including repairs, renovations, and upkeep of hospital plant and facilities. This role requires knowledge in carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical repairs, and plant maintenance techniques, operating and handling department equipment and supplies.
Work Schedule & Compensation
This is a full-time evening shift position offering a $1.50 per hour shift differential. The pay range is $19.50 to $30.45 per hour based on experience.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance tasks across multiple trades such as carpentry, plumbing, welding, painting, flooring, electrical, sheet metal, masonry, and machining.
- Service, lubricate, repair, install, and troubleshoot HVAC units, sterilizers, dietary equipment, sprinkler and standpipe systems, electrical systems, and other specialized equipment.
- Construct, install, and maintain equipment and facilities ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal guidelines as well as department policies.
- Make decisions on routine repairs and escalate major issues to supervisors.
- Interpret blueprints and schematics to plan and execute work efficiently.
- Plan installations, fabricate parts, recommend materials, and suggest alternative methods for installation.
- Diagnose system failures and restore functionality through detailed troubleshooting.
- Work independently or lead jobs in collaboration with other maintenance technicians.
- Keep maintenance logs, perform regular rounds, complete preventive maintenance work orders, tests, and inspections, and propose improvements to preventive maintenance programs.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of shops, mechanical spaces, and patient areas.
- Respond promptly to emergencies, making urgent repairs as needed and participate in weekend/holiday rotations providing 24/7 coverage for the Power Plant and Hospital.
- Assist in snow removal and grounds upkeep as necessary.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid driver's license mandatory for travel between facilities and snow plow operation.
- Completion of a "Powered Industrial Truck Operators" safety course within orientation and annual renewal is required.
- Two years of trade school or five years of related experience in maintenance and repair trades.
- Proven skill in at least one trade with basic knowledge of others acquired through on-the-job training.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations including Right-to-Know, Lock-out Tag-out, ladder safety, and related standards.
- Basic arithmetic skills and ability to interpret complex written and oral instructions.
- Good decision-making capabilities with ability to meet deadlines.
