Maintenance Technician - 2nd Shift

Job Overview

We are seeking a Maintenance Technician for the second shift to carry out a wide array of tasks focused on installing and maintaining production machinery along with plant facility equipment. This role demands proactive and skilled upkeep, including emergency repairs as well as scheduled servicing to ensure continuous production.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute unplanned emergency repairs on production machinery during active operating periods as well as scheduled maintenance during machine downtime.
• Perform basic machinist functions and utilize mechanical skills encompassing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems for troubleshooting and repairing equipment.
• Interpret machinery manuals and work orders accurately to conduct necessary maintenance and service activities.
• Identify defects, diagnose issues, replace or mend faulty parts, conduct testing, and adjust machinery as needed.
• Carry out routine preventative maintenance on machinery, equipment, and facility infrastructure.
• Perform assorted plumbing and carpentry tasks using hand/power tools, electrical meters, and material handling devices.
• Detect and report irregular operations, defective components, or unusual circumstances to supervisors promptly.
• Adhere strictly to safety protocols while maintaining clean and organized workspaces.
• Use a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to print preventive maintenance work orders and ensure closure or delivery of completed orders to the Facilities Manager.
• Maintain orderly inventory of spare parts for critical equipment, ensuring proper storage locations (compressor room for compressor/dryer/generator parts, maintenance shop for others) and inform the Facilities Manager when stock needs replenishment.

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Basic proficiency in reading, writing, and arithmetic, typically achieved through completion of high school or equivalent.
• Competence in understanding written technical instructions and documentation.
• Manual dexterity for operating machinery and computing equipment essential in the role.
• Capability to manage routine administrative work such as filing information and processing paperwork.
• Physical strength sufficient to lift items up to 70 pounds.
• Sound mechanical knowledge concerning machinery and related systems.
• Experience operating forklifts.
• Previous maintenance experience required.
