Role Overview
We seek a Machine Learning Engineer to join our Search & Recommendations team. This team builds cutting-edge machine learning systems that enable millions of customers to discover relevant products daily. Our systems power features like personalised recommendations, product rankings, Similar Items, and People Also Viewed, adapting in real time based on user interactions at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable machine learning systems that enhance product discovery and personalisation.
- Improve recommendation and ranking models and other customer-facing ML functionalities.
- Deploy machine learning models in both batch and real-time environments, ensuring system reliability and performance under high demand.
- Work closely with Applied Scientists, Software Engineers, and Product teams to translate experimental models into robust, production-ready solutions.
- Monitor and refine models continuously using real customer data and performance analytics.
- Contribute to engineering best practices, developing MLOps tools, and enhancing shared ML platform capabilities.
- Drive improvements in the development, deployment, and operational processes for machine learning across the organization.
Candidate Profile
- Experience with building, deploying, or operating production-level machine learning systems.
- Proficiency with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, XGBoost, or comparable technologies.
- Experience with GPU-accelerated training or interest in scalable, distributed ML computing.
- Solid knowledge of software engineering principles including version control, CI/CD pipelines, testing, observability, and containerization.
- Understanding of MLOps best practices and challenges in scaling machine learning applications.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with experience collaborating across engineering, data science, and product teams.
- A strong desire for continuous learning, adaptability, and innovation with emerging technologies and methods.
