Lead Piping Engineer

About the Role

Wood is seeking a Lead Piping Engineer to join their engineering project team based in Doha, Qatar. This role focuses on delivering high-quality engineering solutions within the oil and gas sector, both onshore and offshore, supporting both brownfield and greenfield projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and approve technical scopes and execute assigned engineering tasks.
• Provide expert technical guidance and contribute to business development through client engagement and proposal support.
• Lead or act as a technical authority on projects, overseeing complex engineering assignments, often requiring new or refined techniques.
• Supervise and mentor engineers and technical specialists, managing resource allocation, cost, schedule, and risks.
• Review project documentation, coordinate design solutions, and participate in incident investigations.
• Ensure compliance with relevant procedures and standards, and promote continuous improvement.
• Maintain leadership in health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) practices within projects.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent.
• At least 15 years’ experience in mechanical piping design and engineering related to brownfield oil and gas projects, with a minimum of 5 years in construction and commissioning.
• Familiarity with Shell Design and Engineering Practices (DEPs) is advantageous.
• Strong technical proficiency alongside continuous professional development.
• Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory frameworks, advanced engineering principles, and quality management.
• Demonstrated experience supervising and mentoring technical teams.
• Proven ability to manage project scope, budgets, and schedules effectively.
• Exceptional problem-solving, innovation, and communication skills.
• Adaptive and agile approach to troubleshooting engineering challenges.
