Landscape Services Inspector

Position Overview

The City of Moreno Valley's Parks & Community Services Department is seeking a dedicated Landscape Services Inspector to manage and assess landscape construction and maintenance in public areas such as rights-of-way, greenbelts, and open spaces. The role requires ensuring adherence to City standards through contract oversight, inspections, and coordination with contractors, developers, and community stakeholders. The inspector will evaluate both new and existing landscaping, identify deficiencies, coordinate corrective measures, monitor irrigation effectiveness, and support contract administration including reviewing bids and validating invoices. Exceptional customer service to residents and partners is also expected.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The perfect candidate will demonstrate considerable expertise in landscape construction, maintenance, and contract management, including knowledge of horticulture, arboriculture, irrigation systems, and pest control. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential for effective collaboration with contractors, developers, and the public. The role demands proactive identification of landscape issues, precision in interpreting technical drawings and specifications, and a commitment to maintaining the safety and appeal of the City's green spaces. Familiarity with industry regulations and a team-oriented approach are valued.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D., supplemented with coursework in landscape architecture, horticulture, or related fields.
• At least three years of experience in landscape design, installation, or program administration involving projects such as medians, parks, or large-scale landscaped areas.
• Equivalent combinations of training and related work experience will be considered.

Licenses and Certifications

• Valid California driver's license with the ability to maintain insurability under the City's vehicle policy.
• Qualified Applicator Certificate or License from the California Department of Pesticide Regulation, or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
• National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Certificate, or ability to acquire within six months of hire.

Work Schedule and Compensation

• Full-time position with flexible scheduling options including 5/8, 9/80, or 4/10 workweek arrangements.
• A 2% base pay increase is scheduled for implementation in the first full pay period after July 1, 2026.
