Role Overview

The Kitchenhand supports the Kitchen Supervisor and Cook to deliver nutritious, diverse, and high-quality meals to youth and staff at the Brisbane Youth Detention Centre.

Key Responsibilities

Exhibit cultural awareness and/or actively develop cultural competence to foster an inclusive environment respecting the Human Rights Act 2019, supporting departmental initiatives and community partnerships that maintain Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural ties.
Assist in preparing and serving healthy and varied meals for detainees and staff members.
Follow strict security and safety protocols within the Youth Detention Centre, ensuring kitchen activities comply with operational guidelines.
Maintain cleanliness and safety within the kitchen, including work areas and equipment sanitation.
Support management of inventory and supplies.
Help maintain accurate stock records and perform stocktaking activities.
Carry out administrative tasks related to food services such as ordering, storage, and distribution of provisions.

Additional Information
