Job Overview

Chesterfield County Police Department is seeking a dedicated Intelligence Investigator Supervisor to lead a team of sworn and professional personnel. This full-time, onsite position offers an annual salary ranging from $76,269 to $102,963. The role involves managing daily operations of the Analytic and Strategic Operations Center and fostering cohesive teamwork.

Primary Duties

  • Provide leadership and direct supervision to sworn and professional Intelligence Investigators and Drone as a First Responder (DFR) pilots.
  • Review intelligence reports for accuracy, quality, and operational relevance.
  • Oversee data analysis related to criminal activities, suspect identification, and major investigations.
  • Compile, prepare, and distribute intelligence products.
  • Maintain criminal offense and investigative databases.
  • Deliver real-time intelligence support through communications such as police radio.
  • Ensure compliance with laws, policies, and regulations governing intelligence operations.
  • Mentor and evaluate staff to support their growth and enhance organizational effectiveness.
  • Manage training programs for intelligence investigators throughout the department.
  • Testify in court when required.
  • Handle procurement processes for equipment and supplies including purchase orders, receiving, and tracking.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Work Schedule and Location

The position operates on days or evening shifts, Monday through Friday, with 9-hour schedules between 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM or 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Occasional weekend duties and on-call availability are expected. The worksite is situated at the Chesterfield County Police Department.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Intelligence, Strategic Intelligence, Criminal Justice, or a related discipline, combined with three years of experience in crime analysis and/or police work plus three years in supervisory roles, or equivalent training and experience. Strong knowledge of law enforcement operations and terminology is essential. Candidates must demonstrate aptitude in applying intelligence and analytical principles, directing teams, and conducting strategic investigations. Attention to detail and the ability to interpret police reports is mandatory, alongside effective oral and written communication skills and an ability to analyze statistical data. Familiarity with report design software such as Crystal Reports and proficiency in Microsoft Office are preferred.

Additional Requirements and Conditions

  • Pre-employment drug screening, FBI criminal background check, and degree verification are mandatory.
  • The role is categorized as Critical Safety Sensitive, subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Use of illegal drugs or medical marijuana is prohibited; alcohol consumption or influence during duty or on agency premises is not allowed.
  • The position requires working in high-security sites under DOJ's Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy with stricter background checks.
  • Candidacy is limited to U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents eligible for naturalization.
