Position Overview
The University of Auckland is seeking a High Performance Support Coordinator to enhance the experience of over 300 student-athletes, facilitating their balance of academic achievement and sporting excellence. This role is integral to providing necessary support, resources, and connections for students to succeed both in their studies and athletic pursuits.
Key Duties
- Manage and execute major components of the High Performance Programme including student engagement, communication, and administrative tasks.
- Offer personalized advice, advocacy, and support covering academic progress, wellbeing, and personal growth for student-athletes.
- Design and run workshops, events, and initiatives aimed at fostering connection, growth, and recognition of high-performing students.
- Assist with preparing for national and international inter-tertiary sporting competitions and events.
- Develop and maintain strong networks with academic staff, sports bodies, coaches, and support services.
- Contribute to program reporting, budget oversight, and ongoing enhancement efforts.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm for supporting student achievement and have a solid grasp of the unique challenges faced by student-athletes. You should be adept at relationship-building, collaborating across teams, and supporting holistic goal attainment. Strong organizational skills and an ability to juggle priorities carefully with attention to detail are essential. Effective communication skills and experience in tertiary education or performance sports environments are highly advantageous.
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant tertiary qualification with experience supporting students, athletes, or individuals in performance, education, or wellbeing contexts.
- Previous experience in roles within sports or performance-related fields, preferably in tertiary education settings.
- Clear understanding of challenges faced by student-athletes balancing sport and academics.
- Proven capability in nurturing relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and event coordination skills with the ability to handle multiple responsibilities.
- Familiarity with the tertiary education sector and commitment to student success, development, and wellbeing.
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual salary ranging from $64,000 to $70,000, negotiable based on expertise and experience.
