Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Grinder / Polisher to join our manufacturing team in Londonderry, New Hampshire. This full-time role primarily involves grinding, sanding, polishing, and finishing metal parts such as foils and statics, while ensuring they meet the company's high-quality standards. The ideal candidate will operate various machinery including radial drills, Ellis saws, Bridgeport mills, Wazer waterjets, and hydraulic presses, while focusing strongly on safety and precision in a dynamic production setting.
Work Schedule
The initial work schedule follows a 9/80 format over four months, meaning eight 9-hour days, one 8-hour day, and one scheduled day off during a two-week period. After that, the schedule changes to a standard Monday through Friday shift, with hours adjusted according to business requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and clean workspace adhering to all safety guidelines.
- Perform grinding, sanding, polishing, and deburring of metal components with precision.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and specialized shop equipment safely and efficiently including radial drills, Ellis saws, Bridgeport mills, Wazer waterjets, and hydraulic presses.
- Inspect finished components to verify conformance to quality specifications and work orders.
- Read and interpret blueprints, production instructions, and job specifications accurately.
- Handle materials with care to avoid product damage during manufacturing processes.
- Assist with loading, unloading, and the movement of materials on the shop floor as required.
- Promptly report any defective materials, equipment malfunctions, or safety issues to supervisors.
- Provide support to production and warehouse teams to meet deadlines and operational goals.
- Maintain tools and machinery in good working order through regular upkeep and checks.
- Participate in safety training initiatives and strictly follow all company safety policies.
- Collaborate with team members and departments to ensure smooth daily production activities.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned to support overall operations.
Qualifications and Skills
- Familiar with grinding, polishing, sanding, and finishing metal parts.
- Skilled in operating hand and power tools, pneumatic equipment, and common shop machinery.
- Experience with radial drills, Ellis saws, Bridgeport mills, Wazer waterjets, and hydraulic presses is highly preferred.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication processes.
- Ability to follow written work orders, blueprints, and job instructions accurately.
- Excellent organizational skills and multitasking ability.
- Adaptability to work in a fast-paced environment with reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
- Capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
- Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to perform precise finishing tasks.
- Physical capability to stand for long periods and lift weights over 50 pounds as necessary.
Education and Experience
A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required. Prior experience working with grinders, polishers, sanders, or similar shop equipment is preferred.
