Role Overview

We are seeking a driven Full Stack Engineer (Software Engineer II) to join our expanding engineering team. In this mid-level role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining features that power Roo’s veterinary marketplace. Collaborating with product, design, data, and engineering colleagues, you'll implement scalable, impactful solutions. This fully remote position occasionally requires travel to San Francisco for team events.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product managers, designers, analysts, and engineers to deliver robust technical solutions addressing real business challenges.
• Design, build, and maintain features across our tech stack emphasizing scalable architecture, performance, and maintainability.
• Develop clean, efficient, well-documented code for both our React Native mobile app and backend services.
• Participate actively in technical design discussions and contribute to architectural decisions.
• Lead by example through high-quality code contributions, conducting peer reviews, and mentoring junior engineers.
• Manage testing for features by authoring unit tests with Jest and end-to-end tests with Cypress.
• Resolve production issues, enhance observability, and support platform reliability.
• Work with DevOps and infrastructure teams to ensure smooth CI/CD workflows and system performance.
• Stay current with industry trends and continuously improve tools, processes, and technologies.

Required Qualifications

• 2 to 4 years professional experience as a software engineer with strong skills in TypeScript and JavaScript.
• Experience in growing teams or early-stage startup environments preferred.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Proficient in writing complex and optimized SQL queries.
• Experience with Node.js, Express, React, AWS, and relational databases.
• Familiarity with React Native, Redux, and Next.js is advantageous.
• Degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.

Work Arrangement and Compensation

This is a remote-first role; candidates residing in San Francisco may adopt a hybrid schedule. The role includes occasional travel for cross-functional or team offsite events. Compensation varies by geographic location based on external benchmarks:

• Tier 1 (e.g., San Francisco, NYC): $150,000 - $195,000 USD
• Tier 2 (e.g., LA, Boston, Seattle, DC, San Diego, Chicago): $135,000 - $180,000 USD
• Tier 3 (e.g., Austin, Dallas, Portland, Denver, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Sacramento): $130,000 - $170,000 USD
• Tier 4 (e.g., Minneapolis, Miami, Atlanta, Phoenix, Orlando, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City): $120,000 - $160,000 USD
