Forensic Engineer

Position Overview

Role Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections and prepare causation reports concerning defects and damages to buildings and related structures
• Provide expert technical advice along with detailed scopes of work and cost assessments compliant with Australian Standards and the Building Code of Australia
• Engage effectively with diverse stakeholders including clients, the public, builders, and insurers

Candidate Profile

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in forensic engineering
• Proven expertise in technical report writing
• Strong communication skills and ability to maintain excellent client relationships
• Highly motivated and responsible with sound judgement and a focus on customer satisfaction
• Experienced in managing multiple diverse projects
• Adept at working in a dynamic consulting environment with competing priorities
• Strong commercial acumen and business insight

Essential Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably structural engineering
• Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or registration on the National Engineering Register (NER)
• At least 3 years’ professional experience as a Civil or Structural Engineer
• Comprehensive knowledge of the Building Code of Australia and applicable Australian Standards
• Experience in a fast-paced setting, ideally within the insurance industry
• Previous collaboration with legal firms and insurance companies is highly desirable
• Capability to scope and estimate repair costs for a variety of properties, including domestic, commercial, and industrial
• Ability to substantiate expert opinions with testimony during legal proceedings
