About the Role
Join us at Huhtamaki, a global leader in sustainable packaging solutions dedicated to making all packaging recyclable, reusable, or compostable. We ensure food and beverage safety worldwide through our innovative products and dedicated teams. As a floater in the Finishing Department, you will support machine operators and inspector/packers by providing coverage during their breaks and maintaining a clean, organized work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Observe and adhere strictly to all safety protocols to prevent injuries and protect company property.
- Provide break coverage for gluer operators and inspector/packers to ensure smooth departmental operations.
- Operate stretch wrap machines and case sealers to package finished goods efficiently.
- Manage work-in-progress inventory by keeping materials pushed up to gluer and nester machines.
- Maintain cleanliness by sweeping and cleaning assigned work areas.
- Operate forklifts as required to handle materials safely.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, leads, and operators regarding safety, quality, and production updates.
- Follow SQF and food safety standards consistently during all tasks.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support team goals.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of forklift driving certification.
- Physical ability for moderate to light manual labor including frequent lifting of items up to 35 pounds, and occasionally moving up to 50 pounds with assistance or mechanical aids.
- Capacity to perform various physical activities such as bending, stooping, crouching, climbing, and reaching frequently throughout an 8-12 hour shift.
- Ability to maintain constant mental focus and visual attention while performing job functions.
- Use of Personal Protective Equipment including ear protection, hair net, safety glasses, and steel or composite toe shoes is mandatory.
- Availability to work 40 hours weekly on shift schedules, with potential for overtime.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- At least one year of prior manufacturing experience is advantageous.
