Role Overview
The Fire Fighter will manage responses to aircraft and structural fires, medical crises, hazardous materials incidents, and other emergencies occurring within airport property. This role centers on safeguarding passengers, crew, and airport staff through effective firefighting, rescue operations, and emergency medical interventions.
Key Responsibilities
- React swiftly to emergencies including aircraft incidents, fires, medical situations, and hazardous material events on airport grounds.
- Employ various fire suppression methods such as water, foam, and dry chemicals to extinguish fires.
- Conduct search and rescue missions in dangerous or smoke-obscured settings.
- Deliver first aid and basic life support until advanced care teams arrive, assisting with patient transport as necessary.
- Carry out daily inspections and upkeep of firefighting vehicles, equipment, and protective gear to ensure readiness.
- Maintain firefighting supply inventories and participate in scheduled emergency drills and ICAO-compliant training exercises.
- Complete detailed reports on incidents, maintain training and shift documentation for review and audits.
- Follow all regulatory standards and internal procedures, identifying hazards during routine checks and initiating corrective measures immediately.
- Coordinate effectively with airport operations, emergency services, Duty Manager, ATC, and other relevant authorities during incidents and drills.
Stakeholder Interaction
Engagement with internal teams such as Airport Operations, Security, Health & Safety, and external entities including local fire departments, airlines, ground handlers, equipment suppliers, insurance firms, community representatives, and civil aviation regulators is integral to this role.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or equivalent certification in Fire Fighting Technology from an accredited academy.
- 2 to 3 years of practical firefighting experience, preferably in aircraft rescue and firefighting operations (ARFF).
