About the Role
A leading newly established corporate venture unit, supported by a major publicly listed European corporation, is seeking a Finance Director to establish and lead the financial operations for both its holding company and associated VC fund. The position is based in Berlin or Hamburg.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct overall financial management and controlling for the holding company and the VC fund, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, yearly financial reporting, and cash-flow management consistent with group standards.
- Manage fund administration and portfolio reporting with duties encompassing fund accounting, capital calls, distributions, investor communications, portfolio valuation, and performance analysis.
- Collaborate closely with investment and venture creation teams to develop valuation models, track investments, and assess performance metrics.
- Serve as the primary finance liaison with the group’s finance department, ensuring adherence to internal controls, group policies, and monthly financial reporting obligations.
Qualifications
- Minimum of five years’ experience in auditing, finance, or controlling roles, preferably within venture capital, private equity, or startup environments.
- Demonstrated practical expertise in portfolio valuation and fund reporting supported by strong analytical capabilities.
- Comprehensive knowledge of German Commercial Code (HGB), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and principles related to fund accounting and valuation.
- Fluency in both English and German languages, with an ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders ranging from founders to corporate executives in a structured manner.
