Job description
About One&Only Nyungwe House
One&Only Nyungwe House is a prestigious eco-luxury retreat set amidst an ancient rainforest and tea plantation in Rwanda's Western Province. The resort offers unique, personalized experiences that blend warm African hospitality with a strong commitment to environmental stewardship and community support. The atmosphere is elegant yet relaxed, and the team is dedicated to anticipating and exceeding guest expectations with creativity, empathy, and precision.
Primary Responsibilities
- Coordinate and execute personalized guest tours, excursions, and field activities, collaborating directly or indirectly with various departments as well as external or governmental excursion providers.
- Provide guests with timely, accurate information about the history, culture, and natural environment of the resort and surrounding destination.
- Offer continuous, personalized engagement to ensure guests receive their activities and services in a professional, timely manner, while respecting the resort's policies and procedures.
- Organize on-site and off-site activities, transfers, and special requests, always prioritizing guest comfort and convenience.
- Oversee a designated zone within the resort's reserve area, managing its ecological health, security, and development in line with the property’s integrated environmental policies.
- Identify and report maintenance issues to appropriate departments.
- Maintain comprehensive and current knowledge about the resort’s services and offerings, proactively recommending suitable activities to guests.
- Participate in conservation tasks such as maintaining decks, shelters, trails, fencing, planting and caring for flora, and managing wildlife as needed.
- Attend assigned work areas punctually, fitting the expected grooming and readiness standards.
- Engage proactively with guests during activities to enhance their experience.
- Respond properly to emergencies according to resort procedures, ensuring the safety of guests, staff, and company property.
- Strictly adhere to all One&Only Resorts’ policies, procedures, and standards.
Skills, Experience and Education
- Specialized knowledge or training in one or more of the following areas preferred: African and Rwandan flora and fauna, local natural history, culture, or natural sciences.
- Experience or qualification in professional guiding and wildlife knowledge is advantageous.
- Fluency in English is mandatory; proficiency in additional languages is beneficial.
