About The Lands by Capella
Scheduled to open in February 2026, The Lands by Capella will become one of Sydney’s most exciting luxury event venues. Housed in the restored Department of Lands building beside Capella Sydney, the destination will include five architecturally distinctive spaces that balance heritage appeal with modern design. It will welcome prestigious occasions such as galas, weddings, conferences and cultural events. Team members joining this launch will help establish a landmark venue and create experiences that reflect Capella’s standards of creativity, service and excellence.
Position Summary
The Event Services Supervisor leads the service flow for the assigned station and helps ensure a polished dining experience for every guest. The role requires anticipating guest needs, staying fully informed about menu selections, beverage offerings and daily specials, and supporting consistently high service standards.
Responsibilities
- Deliver consistently refined, professional and premium guest service, acting as a strong example in all banquet and event service matters.
- Run the pre-service briefing when the Event Services Manager is unavailable.
- Plan and coordinate event setup, logistics and pack-down in line with guest requirements and hotel standards.
- Oversee daily departmental activity and make sure all team members follow established service procedures.
- Work closely with other departments and outside suppliers, while monitoring the quality of services provided by partners such as audiovisual, floral and décor vendors.
- Keep accurate records of breakages, guest feedback and suggestions to support inventory control and event planning.
- Stay current on the hotel’s daily offerings, promotions, activities and upcoming events, and ensure the team is briefed on any updates.
- Observe team performance and provide constructive feedback for both improvement and recognition.
- Deliver formal, theoretical and hands-on training to operational colleagues.
- Review guest feedback from direct conversations, comment cards and online reviews, then use the insights to guide service improvements and raise overall ratings.
Requirements
- A tertiary qualification, ideally with a focus on beverage service or events management, will be an advantage.
- Prior experience in a similar position is preferred.
- Exposure to restaurant systems such as Symphony or SevenRooms is desirable.
- Excellent communication skills and a genuine interest in guest relations.
- Strong written and spoken English.
- Availability to work a rotating roster, including early mornings, weekends and public holidays, within a seven-day operation.
- Valid right to work in Australia.
