Edge2020 seeks an Energy Consultant or Senior Energy Consultant to join their team in Brisbane, Queensland. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with a diverse portfolio exceeding 10 terawatt-hours annually, supporting some of Australia's largest energy consumers in navigating and optimizing their engagement with the constantly evolving energy landscape. The company interfaces with various sectors of the energy industry, including generators, wholesale brokers and traders, developers, retailers, as well as specialized service providers to deliver comprehensive physical and financial energy solutions across electricity, gas, and environmental markets.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct data analysis and monitor market developments, proactively researching relevant topics to provide insightful advice to clients.
• Manage tender processes and negotiate contracts on behalf of clients to secure advantageous agreements.
• Participate in regular client meetings, offering proactive and strategic advice aligned with their energy needs.
• Establish and sustain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders within the energy industry.
• Collaborate with the Head of Trading and Analytics to expand client base both in size and diversity across industries and service types, aiming to secure new business opportunities.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

• 1 to 4 years of tangible experience within the Australian east coast electricity markets, specifically the National Electricity Market (NEM).
• A strong passion for the energy sector complemented by curiosity, drive, and enthusiasm to work in a dynamic, multifaceted role directed towards commercial success.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with high attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills encompassing written proficiency, presentations, and interpersonal relations.

Desirable Skills and Experience

• Knowledge of electricity retail processes for large customers, including pricing, network tariff structures, products, metering, and tendering procedures.
• Familiarity with energy industry regulatory frameworks, policies, and operational procedures.
• Effective negotiation skills and experience in contract discussions.
• Background working with large-scale energy users or within energy retail, trading, or consultancy roles.
• Established professional contacts within the energy industry.
• Experience in energy market modeling, forecasting, financial modeling, and risk analysis.
• Understanding of gas markets, emissions reporting, environmental certificate trading, and risk management methodologies.
• Technical proficiency in coding languages such as SQL, Python, R, version control tools like Git, or use of AI-assisted coding tools.
