Role Overview

As an Electrical Design Engineer at SYOS Aerospace, you will be instrumental in developing and integrating the electrical systems crucial to their autonomous platforms. This key role involves managing electrical subsystems through all phases including design, prototyping, testing, and production. Collaborating with mechanical, software, and systems teams, you will contribute to creating reliable products capable of operating effectively in demanding real-world scenarios.

Key Responsibilities

• Create electrical architectures, wiring harnesses, power distribution, and communication systems for sophisticated robotic platforms.
• Lead the lifecycle of electrical subsystems from concept to production including integration and testing.
• Design and prototype electrical hardware, perform fabrications and troubleshoot issues.
• Assist with vehicle integration, manufacturing processes, validation, and field testing activities.
• Work cross-functionally with multidisciplinary teams to address complex engineering challenges.
• Balance engineering trade-offs, program needs, and customer requirements throughout development.
• Drive ongoing improvements in engineering processes and product development methods.
• Mentor junior engineers and disseminate technical knowledge within the team.
• Travel occasionally to facilitate integration, testing, and customer-related operations.

Candidate Requirements

• Hold a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related field, or possess equivalent industry experience.
• Demonstrated experience designing electrical systems for intricate products or mechanical systems.
• Strong familiarity with electrical integration, wiring, cabling, connectors, and power systems.
• Practical experience in soldering, assembling prototypes, and troubleshooting electronics.
• Proven ability to take responsibility for technical subsystems from initial requirements to final delivery.
• Engineering mindset focused on balancing innovation with reliability and manufacturability.
• Effective communication skills suited to working within diverse engineering teams.
• A proactive and passionate approach to developing high-performance technology.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with robotics, autonomous vehicles, UAVs, marine systems, or other complex electromechanical products.
• Knowledge of PCB design, embedded electronics, or control systems.
• Experience in support of manufacturing, production, or industrialisation of products.
• Exposure to environmental, vibration, or equipment qualification testing protocols.
• Familiarity with electrical design tools, documentation standards, and systems engineering methodologies.
