Director, Executive Talent

Overview

Camber Partners is establishing an innovative executive talent function within its portfolio companies and is seeking a Director of Executive Talent to drive this initiative. This portfolio-focused position encompasses executive search, operator network cultivation, talent intelligence development, and search infrastructure enhancement. You will collaborate closely with Camber's VP of Talent and portfolio company CEOs to lead high-caliber executive searches while building the systems, connections, and market understanding necessary to elevate Camber's executive hiring capability continuously.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with portfolio CEOs and hiring teams to translate business strategy into precise job mandates, compelling search narratives, and detailed leader scorecards.
• Achieve stakeholder alignment on leadership profiles and success criteria to guide search efforts.
• Design search strategies, conduct market mapping and thorough candidate research.
• Identify, onboard, and manage external executive search partners, ensuring strategic calibration.
• Oversee search workflow and effectively consolidate candidate feedback.
• Assist with candidate assessment, referencing, backchannel communication, and closing strategies to ensure optimal hire outcomes.
• Construct and maintain an influential network of SaaS executives, domain experts, and advisors to support talent identification and advisory functions.
• Develop nuanced executive talent intelligence by analyzing market segments based on function, business stage, operating models, geography, and leadership styles.
• Build and optimize systems that capture insights across searches, including candidate patterns, market trends, search partner evaluations, and leadership risks, enabling organizational learning.
• Drive the integration of AI tools to enhance workflows related to executive research, market mapping, candidate analysis, scorecard application, search monitoring, and network management, thereby improving speed and quality.
• Support targeted internal senior or specialized hires within Camber as required.

Qualifications

• Proven executive search expertise at senior levels (Principal, Senior Associate) or in-house experience managing executive recruitment in growth-stage companies.
• Background in B2B SaaS, venture-backed, private equity-backed, or portfolio company environments.
• Strong acumen in evaluating executive quality, functional leadership capabilities, and organizational stage alignment.
• Experience crafting role mandates, leadership scorecards, and comprehensive search plans.
• Demonstrated ability in research, sourcing, market mapping, and synthesizing complex information.
• Comfortable engaging with CEOs, investors, executive search firms, and senior operational leaders.
• High initiative, humble approach, and adept at balancing strategic and hands-on execution.
• A system-oriented mindset coupled with enthusiasm for leveraging AI to advance talent functions.
• A passion for establishing lasting relationships with top-tier SaaS leaders.
