- Participate actively in major editorial projects such as election coverage and climate reporting, maintain updated logs, communicate with senior editors, and fill coverage gaps promptly.
- Support production of live and recorded programs by preparing cue cards, researching guests, and assisting with technical aspects under time-sensitive conditions.
- Identify potential legal, safety, or ethical issues in story planning and production, following health and safety protocols for field reporting and remote contributors.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- At least five years of professional journalism experience with a portfolio demonstrating original digital, multimedia, data, or visual storytelling aimed at international audiences.
- Proficiency in data gathering, cleansing, and interpretation using spreadsheets, basic coding, or visualization tools such as Flourish or Datawrapper to uncover unique stories.
- Strong editorial judgment with the ability to verify information swiftly under deadlines, distinguishing between rumor, opinion, and fact especially in sensitive or rapidly evolving events.
- Hands-on experience with content management systems, social media publishing tools, video editing software, and mobile reporting technology; understanding of search and audience analytics in content placement.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a newsroom environment, sharing ideas, accepting editorial feedback, and coordinating with producers, camera operators, and freelancers.
- Excellent organizational skills and resilience to manage breaking news, ongoing projects, and routine publishing without compromising accuracy or composure.
