The opportunity
This internship is designed for students and recent graduates at different stages of their academic journey, including those in their final year, those pursuing an additional degree, and those who graduated within the last 12 months.
You will work on analysing and interpreting large volumes of data to support product decisions. The role sits within engineering teams and involves collaborating with data engineers, data analysts, software engineers, and other stakeholders at the Auckland office.

There is 1 opening for this internship. Hiring will happen on a rolling basis. The role is full-time at 40 hours per week, hybrid, paid, and scheduled to run from 9 November 2026 to 12 February 2027, with some flexibility depending on final exam dates. Early applications are encouraged, as offers may be made before 31 August 2026.
Key responsibilities
- Support the creation and upkeep of data pipelines and related infrastructure with guidance from experienced data engineers.
- Assist with maintaining data warehouses, databases, and analytics systems.
- Help keep data dependable, correct, and ready for reporting and analysis.
- Write clear, maintainable code aligned with good data engineering practices.
- Build familiarity with current data engineering tools, technologies, and workflows.
- Contribute to real-world data solutions while strengthening both technical and professional capability.
- Investigate data issues and help diagnose pipeline breakdowns.
- Support improvements to data quality, performance, and reliability through testing and monitoring.
- Help document processes and refine operational workflows.
- Work with Product Managers, Software Engineers, Data Analysts, and fellow Data Engineers to understand requirements and support business goals.
- Take part in planning, knowledge sharing, and technical review sessions.
- Communicate progress clearly, ask questions when needed, and actively seek feedback.
Requirements
- You must have full working rights in New Zealand.
- You need to be available full-time between November and February.
- You should be studying a relevant degree such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data and AI, or a similar discipline.
- The role is aimed at people with strong potential rather than deep experience.
- You should have strong problem-solving ability and be able to learn quickly.
- You should be open to coaching, receptive to feedback, and willing to keep developing.
