Role Summary

The position seeks an experienced Data Analyst to convert complex datasets into valuable business insights and to support data-driven decision-making processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with underwriting, claims, actuarial, and product teams to collect requirements and translate them into data warehouse models, reports, and dashboards.
  • Participate in the design and refinement of the enterprise data warehouse focusing on subject areas, dimensional modeling, source-to-target data mapping, and consistent definitions across domains such as policy, claims, premium, and exposure.
  • Execute data queries, profiling, and validation in Snowflake using SQL to resolve business queries, reconcile warehouse outputs with source systems, and ensure data integrity.
  • Manage the backlog and roadmap for data warehouse enhancements and BI deliverables; prioritize tasks, write user stories, and coordinate with data engineering during ETL/ELT release cycles.
  • Support the transition of legacy data warehouses and reporting tools to the Snowflake platform, including testing and obtaining stakeholder approvals.
  • Develop and sustain dashboards and self-service analytics using Power BI or Tableau built on governed warehouse data.
  • Assist in data governance activities such as maintaining business glossaries, data lineage documentation, and stewardship of critical data elements.

Essential Qualifications & Skills

  • More than three years of experience in data analysis or data product/program management, ideally within property and casualty insurance or similarly regulated fields.
  • Proficient in SQL and experienced with Snowflake platform components including warehouses, schemas, roles, and data sharing; familiarity with dbt is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing principles such as dimensional (Kimball) modeling, star schemas, slowly changing dimensions, ETL/ELT processes, and data marts.
  • Knowledge of insurance data flows from core systems into data warehouses and external reporting/regulatory solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with business intelligence tools like Power BI or Tableau and agile methodologies, including Jira, user story creation, and sprint events.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of acting as a liaison between business users and technical teams.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Guidewire or Duck Creek data structures, migration of legacy warehouses (SQL Server, Teradata, Oracle) to Snowflake.
  • Familiarity with Python programming and data catalog tools such as Collibra or Alation.
  • Certifications or coursework related to CPCU or insurance industry knowledge.
