Role Overview
The Customs Specialist position is a full-time, on-location role based in Doha, Qatar. The primary responsibility is handling customs clearance procedures for both import and export shipments at Abou Samra, ensuring full compliance with local and global customs laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately preparing and scrutinizing shipment documentation for customs processes.
- Liaising with customs authorities and regulatory bodies to facilitate timely cargo clearance.
- Identifying and resolving challenges or delays arising during customs clearance.
- Collaborating closely with internal operations teams, clients, and external partners to guarantee correct tariff, duty assessment, and product classification.
- Keeping abreast of changes in customs legislation and updating internal databases accordingly.
- Providing advice and best practice guidance to support efficient cargo transit.
Qualifications and Experience
- Solid expertise in customs operations, including customs brokerage and import/export procedures.
- Practical experience managing import/export documentation and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Strong communication skills for effective coordination with customs officials, customers, and team members.
- Good understanding of international trade laws, tariff coding, and customs valuation methods.
- Analytical skills with keen attention to detail for addressing and resolving customs related issues.
- Familiarity with logistics and customs processing software systems.
- Background in freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain sectors is preferred.
- A diploma or degree in logistics, supply chain management, international business, or a related discipline is advantageous.
