Project Overview
The Mining and Metals business unit provides comprehensive engineering, procurement, and construction services to clients in sectors such as Iron Ore, Bauxite, Alumina, Aluminium, Copper, Gold, Coal, Lithium, and Rare Earths. Role Summary
As a Cost Engineer based in Perth, WA, you will take charge of estimating, analyzing, and controlling project costs, especially those with technical complexity or non-routine demands. Responsibilities include preparing detailed cost studies, evaluating cost trends, and establishing cost control measures aligned with project requirements. Your analyses will contribute innovative solutions to engineering cost challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine estimating, analyzing, and control of project costs as assigned.
- Assist in applying cost monitoring and control methodologies, systems, and reporting standards.
- Support budget allocation and report generation for specific construction disciplines.
- Prepare cost data sets for proposals and contracts.
- Coordinate creation and ensure the accuracy and consistency of cost reports.
- Compile and classify gathered cost data for analysis.
- Develop budgets adhering to prescribed standards and procedures.
- Perform budget allocation and cost control for particular workgroups or disciplines.
- Carry out cost studies using historical data, statistical methods, and quantity comparisons.
Educational and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or international equivalent.
- 5 to 8 years of relevant experience, or alternatively, 9 to 12 years of related work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Proficiency in PC operating systems and various software applications, including discipline-specific tools like Ecosys, Hyperion, and Digital Supply Chain.
- Knowledge of financial reporting systems, controller account codes, and understanding of controller instructions relevant to project controls.
- Advanced technical comprehension of project controls methods and standards.
- Intermediate familiarity with the processes of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup operations as utilized by Bechtel.
- Experience and understanding of engineering and construction management concepts gained through education or practical experience.
