Job Summary
The Contract Manager sits within the contracts and commercial function and reports to the Contracts and Commercial Director. The position oversees the full contract lifecycle across projects, including agreements with clients and subcontractors. The purpose of the role is to keep contract administration effective, reduce commercial and legal exposure, make sure obligations are fulfilled, and support successful project delivery in line with company procedures and contractual commitments.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, assess, negotiate, and oversee client, consultant, and subcontractor agreements while maintaining compliance and limiting contractual exposure.
- Guide project teams on claims, change orders, extensions of time, dispute handling, and wider contractual responsibilities.
- Administer subcontractor contracts, track performance against terms, and ensure all contractual obligations are met.
- Join meetings with clients, consultants, and subcontractors to address contract-related issues and project requirements.
- Contribute to project risk control by spotting contractual risks and keeping the project risk register up to date.
- Put contract administration processes, templates, and internal standards into practice and monitor their use.
- Ensure subcontractor final accounts and claims are prepared, negotiated, and closed out on time.
- Examine contractual correspondence and provide commercial and contractual guidance to the project team.
- Work closely with project, commercial, procurement, and finance teams to maintain smooth contract administration.
- Back HSE initiatives and ensure work is aligned with company policies and procedures.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, quantity surveying, construction management, or a closely related discipline.
- FIDIC certification is preferred.
- Membership in CIOB, RICS, or a similar professional organization is considered an advantage.
- At least 12 years of relevant experience in contracts and commercial management within the construction sector.
- Demonstrated senior quantity surveyor experience with a solid commercial foundation.
- At least 5 years spent in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
- GCC experience is preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of contract administration, especially FIDIC-based contracts.
- Hands-on experience with claims, variations, extensions of time, and dispute resolution.
- Strong capability in commercial management, contract compliance, and risk awareness.
- Comfort using ERP/SAP platforms and Microsoft Office tools.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
