Job description

Opportunity Overview

Participate in a hands-on engineering internship within advanced manufacturing and operational excellence, focusing on continuous improvement across production, quality, and supply chain functions in Australia. This role offers exposure to lean methodologies, data-driven process refinement, and Kaizen-driven project execution in a dynamic engineering setting.

Role Responsibilities

  • Assist in ongoing improvement projects by gathering and analysing process data to detect inefficiencies and performance shortfalls.
  • Create process and value stream maps documenting existing workflows and suggest targeted enhancements.
  • Support planning and facilitation of Kaizen events, 5S practices, and pilot improvements directly on the shop floor.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for recurrent defects or production bottlenecks and advise on corrective measures.
  • Develop informative dashboards and presentation-quality reports using Excel and business intelligence tools to share findings with stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with production, quality, and engineering teams to support and sustain change implementations.

Technical Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficient in Lean Six Sigma principles
  • Experienced with Value Stream Mapping and Process Mapping techniques
  • Knowledgeable in Root Cause Analysis and 5S methodology
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
  • Familiarity with Minitab, Power BI, and Kaizen is advantageous

Academic and Eligibility Criteria

  • Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in engineering, industrial engineering, manufacturing, or a related field
  • Eligible to work in Australia and able to commit to full-time, on-site engagement
  • Comfortable working within manufacturing or production environments while adhering to safety protocols
