Role Overview

Tesla is looking for a skilled technical Content Editor to join their Palo Alto team. This role serves as a vital link between Optimus technicians and engineering teams, ensuring the productivity and serviceability of Optimus robots worldwide. The editor will utilize in-house tools and collaborate across service, quality, diagnostics, training, technical operations, and other departments.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with engineering teams to develop and update diagnostic information and procedures designed for non-engineers' use within the diagnostics knowledge base.
• Collect and synthesize technical details by collaborating with various engineering and quality groups.
• Interpret complex technical issues and effectively communicate them in clear, accessible language for broader audiences.
• Ensure accuracy by validating information and managing a document approval workflow involving routing and review.
• Edit documentation to comply with the company's style guidelines and uphold organizational standards.
• Enhance editorial quality and visual presentation of materials; propose new formatting, layout, and design improvements as necessary.
• Utilize collaboration platforms such as JIRA, SharePoint, and custom databases to manage work tasks and information flow.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Rhetoric and Composition, Technical/Professional Writing, Journalism, Communications, or equivalent professional experience.
• 1 to 3 years of professional experience in a related role.
• Strong skillset in creating clear, precise, thorough, and succinct technical documentation.
• Proven ability to explain technical subjects to colleagues from diverse departments and non-technical individuals.
• Competence in interpreting system operations from software and mechanical engineering documents such as schematics and subsystem specifications.
• Excellent interpersonal communication abilities.
• Strong analytical and creative thinking aptitude.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, capable of multitasking, and prioritizing responsibilities effectively.
• Self-motivated with the capacity to work independently under minimal supervision.
• Familiarity with HTML, XML, DITA, Markdown, Git, SQL, and/or Python is advantageous.
