Role Summary
The Communications Specialist role reports to the PR & Influencer Manager for Australia, supporting the execution of campaigns, media outreach, and influencer engagements for the PlayStation brand within the Australian market. This role encompasses local communications efforts related to PlayStation hardware, software titles (including first-party and key third-party releases), PS Store, and PS Plus subscription services. Collaboration with Global Communications, local Marketing, Sales teams, and agencies is essential to deliver effective campaigns that boost brand visibility and positive sentiment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Execute communication activities aligned with PlayStation campaigns covering game releases, hardware launches, service offerings, and third-party collaborations.
- Assist in implementing PR strategies including media outreach, pitching, managing press materials, and coordinating with journalists.
- Build and nurture relationships within Australian gaming, technology, entertainment, lifestyle, and mainstream media sectors.
- Prepare and customize press releases, media alerts, Q&A documents, and briefing materials tailored to local markets.
- Handle incoming media inquiries and aid in spokesperson coordination efforts.
- Manage distribution of review codes and product seeding initiatives.
- Support various press events, game previews, launch activities, and cultural promotions.
- Ensure local communication outputs align with global messaging standards and objectives.
- Monitor media coverage and compile reports reflecting campaign performance.
- Facilitate Australian influencer campaigns across platforms like YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Twitch, encompassing both organic and paid efforts.
- Identify and collaborate with suitable Australian influencers and content creators spanning gaming and adjacent sectors such as sports, entertainment, and lifestyle.
- Support briefing, deliverable tracking, and timeline management for influencers.
- Maintain an up-to-date database of Australian digital creators and influencers.
- Observe and report on creator content, social sentiment, and evolving digital trends.
- Assist in campaign reporting with KPI tracking and analysis.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Partnerships, Retail, and Global communications to ensure campaign cohesion.
- Identify new media and influencer opportunities within the Australian marketplace.
Candidate Profile
- Possess 2 to 4 years of professional experience in public relations, communications, or influencer marketing, either within agencies or in-house roles.
- Deep familiarity with the Australian media environment covering gaming, technology, lifestyle, and mainstream news domains.
- Knowledgeable about the Australian influencer and content creator landscapes.
- Experienced in supporting PR campaigns and executing media outreach plans.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Strong organizational abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
- Capable of managing several projects simultaneously in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.
- Collaborative mindset with confidence engaging cross-functional stakeholders including global teams.
- Genuine enthusiasm for gaming and entertainment culture.
- Desirable: experience in consumer technology, gaming, or entertainment industries; exposure to corporate communications; familiarity with influencer contracts and paid campaign management.
