About the Role
The Communications and Design Manager is responsible for leading the strategic development and implementation of communications that enhance the profile and influence of the Pappas Program. This role oversees the management of the Program's visual branding and ensures a consistent, polished presence across digital and printed media. The Manager collaborates closely with faculty, staff, students, and external partners to craft compelling communications that highlight the Program's research, events, and initiatives while boosting engagement with key audiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the use and upkeep of the Pappas Program's brand identity across all communications including website content, reports, presentations, event materials, social media, printed collateral, and branded items.
- Create and produce high-quality print and digital content using Adobe Creative Suite tools (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) conforming to brand guidelines.
- Develop and implement a broad communications plan spanning platforms such as WordPress, Mailchimp, social media channels, printed publications, and electronic calendars.
- Produce and edit engaging written and visual content to promote the Program's initiatives, events, research activities, and highlights to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Act as lead communications contact for Sponsored Research efforts by working with faculty, staff, and students to create scholarly publications, illustrations, data visualizations, and print-ready materials.
- Oversee marketing and communication activities for Program events by designing promotional assets, managing email campaigns, coordinating social media promotions, tracking RSVPs, and assisting with event logistics including signage and directional support.
- Manage multiple concurrent communication and design projects to timely completion while maintaining quality standards.
- Supervise the Program’s social media intern by delegating tasks, reviewing outputs, and providing mentorship on communications and graphic design best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven experience producing research-focused publications, infographics, data visualizations, or other materials suited for technical or academic audiences.
- Background in event marketing and promotions, including creating collateral, conducting email campaigns, managing attendee responses, and logistical support.
- Experience mentoring or managing student employees, interns, or creative contributors.
