Role Overview
The Clinical Nurse Educator at Mease Dunedin Hospital's ICU is responsible for evaluating, creating, and leading educational initiatives aimed at enhancing and sustaining the clinical proficiency and professional development of ICU team members. This position involves managing unit-specific educational programs through comprehensive needs assessments.
Position Details
- Work location: Mease Dunedin Hospital – Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
- Employment status: Full-time, exempt from overtime
- Standard shift: 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with potential variations
- Occasional weekend work required
- No on-call duties
- Role requires onsite presence
Qualifications and Certifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nursing
- Minimum three years of RN experience in an acute care environment
- Preferred: Experience working in a Neuro ICU educational support capacity
- Preferred: Nursing Professional Development Certification (ANPD)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association
Core Responsibilities
- Conduct needs assessments to develop and implement educational programs that enhance ICU clinical expertise and professional growth
- Design and manage education tailored to unit-specific learning needs and quality improvement efforts
- Support orientation and continual education for new and current ICU nursing staff
- Act as a subject matter expert and provide resources related to evidence-based clinical practices and education
- Collaborate with clinical leadership and interdisciplinary teams to facilitate quality and patient safety initiatives
- Advise on education requirements, competencies, and accessible learning materials
- Promote positive change by encouraging practice advancements, effective communication, and staff engagement
- Perform Registered Nurse duties and other responsibilities as assigned when necessary
- Adhere to ANPD Scope and Standards of Practice to uphold clinical excellence grounded in evidence-based care
