Position Overview
The role of a Cashier is vital in delivering efficient and friendly customer service. Responsibilities include handling checkout and return transactions promptly and accurately while ensuring safety protocols are followed. Additionally, Cashiers oversee the Self-Checkout area to maintain smooth operation.
Key Duties
- Process customer purchases and returns accurately and swiftly.
- Manage and monitor Self-Checkout stations to ensure proper function and customer assistance.
- Continuously update product and project knowledge to assist customers and spot sales opportunities.
- Adhere strictly to store policies to minimize shrinkage and losses.
Head Cashier Role
Head Cashiers support frontline Cashiers by coordinating tasks such as expediting price verifications, authorizing point-of-sale transactions and markdowns across various service points including mainline registers, Self-Checkout, Returns, Pro Desk, Special Services, and Tool Rental.
They also act as the first point of escalation for customer concerns and participate in overseeing, coaching, and training Front End Associates. Training new Cashiers and leveraging coaching tools to foster development among Cashiers are integral parts of this role. Preferred candidates for Head Cashier have a minimum of one year of previous Cashier experience.
