Job description
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Caretaker/Janitor to join our team at the Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre. This full-time role involves primarily cleaning duties, including both planned and reactive tasks, with potential travel to multiple sites. Applicants should ideally have a valid driving license and a vehicle. The position requires successful completion of Police vetting, necessitating residency in the UK for at least 3 years.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive cleaning services across the secure facility, including specialist and reactive tasks, and provide coverage during holidays, sickness, and weekends including public holidays.
- Perform monthly internal and external window and frame cleaning.
- Maintain grounds and gardens through planting, grass cutting, and weeding activities.
- Manage waste collection and disposal within facility boundaries.
- Monitor and replenish stock of consumables such as toilet and copier paper and detainee supplies.
- Provide training and guidance on caretaking duties to other staff as required.
Candidate Requirements
- Prior experience in maintenance or cleaning roles, preferably within a secure environment.
- Basic proficiency in ICT as well as electrical and mechanical skills.
- Possession of a valid clean driving license.
- Flexibility with working hours to accommodate out-of-hours and weekend work.
- Ability to pass Police vetting, with a minimum of three years UK residency.
