Theoretical instruction will be delivered at one of our regional training centers, while practical placements will ideally be local. This full-time retraining lasts 39 hours per week and combines both theoretical and practical sessions. Training groups consist of 12 participants, where you will acquire necessary knowledge for daily work as a Railway Switch Operator.
Job Responsibilities After Training
- Operate train traffic controls using levers, push buttons, and rotary switches under the direction of train dispatchers at small to medium signal boxes.
- Responsible for route verification, track clearance confirmation, clearance checks, train observation, and regulatory-compliant documentation of operational procedures.
- Coordinate and communicate regularly with colleagues at the signal box, train dispatchers, and control centers.
- Monitor and regulate railway routes and manage track closures during disruptions, completing an engaging range of duties.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum of a (qualified) secondary school diploma (Hauptschulabschluss).
- Ability to remain calm and maintain oversight in demanding situations.
- Possession of a personal car and mobility readiness near your place of residence.
- Willingness to work shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays, while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

- Annual 16 free train rides within Germany plus additional travel discounts such as the DB Job-Ticket for commuting, and affordable options for family and friends.
- Secure long-term employment prospects within a future-oriented corporation.
- Up to 34 days of vacation per year with options to tailor your working hours or salary to best suit your personal life.
